What is EUDR?
The EUDR is a new EU regulation from 29 June 2023 for products entering the European market. The main goal is to ensure that the production of certain goods and commodities will not contribute to further degradation of forest ecosystems. This is also expected to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and conserve biodiversity.
Who needs EUDR?
The EUDR applies to operators and traders, that import products into the EU market. It applies to 7 commodities (cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, rubber, soya, wood) and their derived products. The regulation requires companies to provide a due diligence statement with risk assessment and mitigation

What’s all the fuss about the EU legislation?
The European Commission’s proposed Regulation on Deforestation-Free Products is due to be ratified within a year. The new regulation aims to stop deforestation-linked commodities import to the EU. It will focus on the local compliance along the supply chain and it will designate areas as low, standard or high-risk.
Failure to comply will lead to fines or denial of market access.
